Two warm, welcoming retreats just minutes from Mount Snow and Harriman Reservoir — and an easy walk from Wilmington's shops, restaurants, and bars.
Camp Cozy is a pair of thoughtfully designed rental units in the heart of southern Vermont. Whether you're here to ski, hike, paddle, or simply slow down, each unit gives you a comfortable, hassle-free homebase to come back to after a day of adventure.
We are Janeen and Joe, your hosts and neighbors. Joe has been coming to the Wilmington/Mt. Snow area for almost 50 years. About 12 years ago, we both started visiting regularly, renting houses in the area for weeks or a month at a time. We came to love the area in all seasons and decided to get our own vacation home here, which we accomplished in 2019. Vacation time and summers were spent here as well as it being our COVID retreat. When Joe retired from teaching two years ago, Wilmington became our permanent home. We bought the adjoining property and added two beautiful 1-bedroom cottages. Our family and friends enjoy them when they visit, and now we're opening them up to other guests.
You'd be sharing our property, our neighborhood, and our neighbors, whom we love. We spend most evenings sitting around the fire pit, and it's not uncommon for neighbors to stroll by and join us for a drink and maybe roast some marshmallows. If you join us, you're welcome to be part of these gatherings, or to keep to your own fire pit and privacy — whichever you prefer.
We treasure and respect our beautiful environment and our friendly neighbors, and we'd expect the same from our guests. Each property is designed primarily for two guests, and we monitor that closely, as our septic system and permits specify those limits. The same goes for pets — we want to avoid any conflicts with our neighbors' pets. Any exceptions to the number of guests or pets need to be discussed ahead of time.
Each unit is a self-contained 775 sq ft retreat with everything you need for a weekend or a week. Pick the one that fits your trip — or bring some special friends and book both.
A bright, welcoming space with a full kitchen, comfy living area, and all the little comforts of home. The bedroom is made up with fresh linens, and self check-in means you arrive on your own schedule. There's an additional small den with a second couch that you can use to relax or work if you need to do so. A deck off the back sliding doors features a picnic style high top table with an umbrella and lovely views of the property. Perfect for cozy couples.
The same easy comfort with its own character. An open layout keeps the kitchen, dining, and living areas connected, so it feels bright and social — a relaxing retreat to recharge in after a day on the mountain or the water. Features an additional den with a daybed making it a perfect nook for relaxing or work if needed. There is also a deck off the back sliding doors that features a full cover umbrella and an outdoor dining set.
A gravel fire pit circle with Adirondack chairs sits between the two units — a good spot for a slow morning coffee or a fire after dark. The property also features a propane griddle if you feel like a barbeque.
We've kept things simple and comfortable so you can focus on your trip. Every stay includes:
Recommendations from us, your hosts — the spots we send friends and family to whenever they visit.
A wonderful Jamaican restaurant in Wilmington — beautiful room, delicious food, warm people.
A historic tavern in West Dover, close to Mount Snow — cozy, candlelit, and worth the short drive.
A laid-back log-cabin brewery near Mount Snow — wood-fired pizza, burgers, fried chicken sandwiches, and craft beer.
Swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and boating on Vermont's largest lake, plus quiet shoreline trails for slower afternoons. 3 miles away.
Skiing, riding, and terrain parks all winter. Come summer the mountain opens up for lift-served mountain biking, hiking, and disc golf. 6 miles away.
A short drive brings you to a clear, cold swimming hole tucked into the woods — a favorite for cooling off after a hike.
Boat, waverunner, kayak, and paddleboard rentals on Lake Whitingham — a few minutes from the property.
Local restaurants, cozy pubs, coffee, galleries, and boutique shops are all an easy stroll away.
A local, family-owned pub in the historic village — good food, cold drinks, and a lively deck overlooking the river.
A charming independent bookstore on West Main Street — great for browsing on a rainy afternoon.
A former one-room log cabin turned lively taproom — pool, games, and a laid-back après-ski vibe.
Candlepin bowling, mini golf, arcade, and thin-crust pizza — a fun rainy-day option for the whole group.
An easy 1.7-mile loop hike up Mt. Olga leads to a historic fire tower with 360-degree views over the valley and surrounding mountains.
Kind words from past visitors — check back soon as we add more.
"I stayed at Camp Cozy twice this summer. Both times were great. It was very relaxing, private, everything is new, the houses were super modern and comfortable. The beds were comfy as well as the living room sofa. Janeen and Joe are great hosts. They go above and beyond to make sure your experience is nothing short of great. I highly recommend this place for anyone to stay. Oh, and it is very cozy!"
"When I think of my stay at Camp Cozy, I am reminded of a little known quote: 'Hospitality cannot be described, it can only be felt.' We adored our stay at the cottage and cannot wait to return. The units are tastefully designed, well appointed, remarkably spacious, and very clean. You will have everything necessary for a perfect VT getaway. My boys, 12 and 14 years old, thoroughly enjoyed exploring the grounds as my wife and I relaxed amidst the soft sounds and smells of Vermont air. The location is perfect — you are near everything Wilmington and the nearby towns have to offer. Check out the Hogback Country Store for Vermont goodies and vistas! After a long day of hiking and exploring, you will rest easy knowing the cabins have the comforts of home in the backdrop of Vermont's beauty. We highly recommend. A special thanks to Joe and Janeen for making us feel at home in Vermont."
"We had guests who needed nearby accommodations that couldn't say enough about the property. Beautiful landscaping, spacious yard area, gorgeous fire pit, Adirondack chairs. Inside had everything you would need. They couldn't stop raving about the luxury accommodations. Highly recommended."
"We stayed in #16 (A) while enjoying a family fun weekend. The unit is so nice and cozy and very comfortable. It is so nicely decorated with a local touch. The kitchen has everything you need. A nice deck for morning coffee. Even an open fire pit to sit and enjoy a nice fire in the evening. Location is close to downtown and ski areas. I can't say enough. Most importantly the owners are warm and welcoming. They can't do enough to make your stay so comfortable. We look forward to coming back! Thank you!"
